Hi, I have a possum problem downstairs in my two storey house. It is living in the cavity between the downstairs ceiling and the upstairs floor. I would like to organise a quote for removal / repairs to entry points. Thanks Rebecca

Thanks Rebecca, Seeing where the area is will help enormously with working out just what we need to do when it comes to repairing all the entry points (if there is more than 1). This being the case I will need organise a time with you to have a look at your property. I will contact you to discuss further what this little blighter is up to.

I hear noises in my roof, what could it be.
Jan. 18, 2011
Could be 1 of 2 common things, Rats or Possums. Possums are very heavy footed when running. Rats on the other hand are usually light and fast moving, stopping periodically to scratch then running off.

We hear noises in the roof (mainly during the day), however we have a particular part of our room that has a terrible odour to it. Could this mean toilet time for these guys in our roof, which may be coming down through the wall cavity? Been happening for about 3 weeks. TY

Paul, possums usually make noises during the night. Noises during the day generally means rats unless it just a rustling around.
The smell is usually an acrid urine kind of smell and is often accommanied by a brown stain streaking down the wall

What can I do to stop Possums Eating my plants?
Jan. 18, 2011
There are very few things that actually deter possums from getting stuck into your plants. Studies have been conducted on different products and non of them were found to deter possums if they are hungry. Those that had the most effect were anything that smelled really bad to a possum. Things like ammonia, camphor, even vicks vapour rub (melted into boiling water and sprayed over the leaves). The only way to stop them is to build a cage over your plants. Sorry.

Why can't I just trap the possum and take it to the bush nearby?
Jan. 18, 2011 by Mr Possum
Two reasons, first it's illegal to remove a possum from its territory and the reason for this is because when you do this and release the possum into another ones territory, they will often fight to the death and it's a pretty gruesome death.
The second reason is that you have fixed the problem of the possum getting into your roof. Either the same possum or another will soon be in your roof again.
